Academic continuity The College’s arts programs are designed to ensure consistent progression from one year to the next. That is why it is important to make a thoughtful choice from the start. Respecting preferences (subject to availability) The College does its best to respect students’ choices, but if spaces are limited in a course, a random draw may be used to distribute groups. Final confirmation The list of chosen courses is sent by email in May, along with confirmation of the student’s arts course and English course. 👉 This process helps ensure balanced class organization and an enriching path for each student in their chosen subjects.

Academic Review — The teaching team reviews the form responses along with relevant academic data (e.g., previous English grades). This helps assess the student’s learning style and language strengths. Final Placement — Once the review is complete, the student is placed in the most appropriate English section (regular or enriched) to support their success. Yes, your child can be enrolled in the Haute Vitesse enrichment program and also be part of a sports concentration. In the vast majority of cases, HV sessions do not overlap with Daily Activities Program periods.

How do I enrol my child in a concentration or the PAQ?

All students are enrolled by default in the Daily Activities Program (PAQ) under the multidisciplinary program. The school year is divided into four activity blocks lasting approximately 10 weeks each. Students participate in two activities per block — one on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays, and the other on Tuesdays and Thursdays. At the beginning of each block, students in the multidisciplinary program can change their activity choices. At the start of the year, parents can enrol students in one or more concentrations through the portal. This registration involves additional fees depending on the concentration. Some concentrations are by selection or invitation only.

There are 2 ways to track your child’s homework. Studyo Planner and Classroom The Studyo electronic planner is used by students to record their homework, assignments and upcoming assessments. Classroom is an application that serves as a virtual classroom and communication tool between teachers and students in the same group: teachers can post deadlines for homework, assignments and upcoming assessments. For this reason, you cannot be invited to your child’s Classroom, but you can ask your child to show you their Classroom and discuss the importance of completing assignments and organizing their study time. If your child is experiencing significant difficulties, we encourage you to write to our assistant principal for their grade level.

Can my child retake a missed exam?

Yes. Any student absent during an assessment must retake the test upon returning to school, during their Daily Activities Program (PAQ) period, in the La Ressource room. An email will be automatically sent to the student via their Gmail address (@csjvedu.ca) with the details of the retake. It is the student’s responsibility to show up at the scheduled time. In the case of prolonged absences, a plan will be established by the administration in collaboration with teachers.

How do I report my child’s absence, late arrival or early departure?

To report an absence, late arrival or appointment, you must contact STUDENT ABSENCE, either by phone at extension 234, or by email via the portal to “Student Absence.” For appointments, you can notify us as soon as you know the date. You do not have to wait until the day of the appointment. For early departures, your child must go to the front desk to confirm the departure. They can then leave once you arrive.

How do I get an OPUS card?

Wait to receive your valid student card, or at least your official photo (often provided by your school). This photo will be used to make the OPUS card with photo. Go to the STM student portal or your school’s portal. Access the online OPUS application portal. Example here. Submit your application online Fill out the form with: Your personal information Your student number (DA) or other proof of eligibility Your photo (if not already provided by the school) Pay the $15 (manufacturing fee) by credit card. OPUS card delivery Your OPUS card with photo will be mailed to your home within approximately 7 business days. The OPUS card with photo is valid for one year. It allows you to purchase tickets at the student discount rate. If you apply after August 1, the card is valid for the following school year.

How does school bus registration work?

For students living outside the island of Montreal, Collège St-Jean-Vianney offers a school bus service in various municipalities: Repentigny, L’Assomption, Terrebonne, Mascouche and Charlemagne (*the service is adjusted each year in different areas, based on demand). My child lost their OPUS card, what should we do?

Here are the steps to follow if your child has lost their OPUS card with photo (commonly used for students) and you wish to replace it, especially if you are near the Berri-UQAM station: Go in person to the OPUS Service Point at Berri-UQAM Since OPUS cards with photo (particularly student discount cards) cannot always be replaced online, especially if they are expired or close to expiring, you must go in person. 📍 Address: Berri-UQAM Station – OPUS Service Point Located inside the metro station, follow the signs to the STM Customer Service Point. Documents to bring: To replace your child’s OPUS card, you must bring: A piece of ID for the child (health insurance card, passport, etc.) Valid proof of school attendance (if the OPUS card has a student discount) A replacement fee (usually $15, please verify) A parent may accompany the child, especially if the child is a minor Important details: The balance or passes (monthly subscriptions, trips) can be transferred to the new card, if possible If the card is close to its expiry date or already expired, you will likely need to apply for a new OPUS card with photo (same process as for a new card, including the photo) Hours of operation: Hours may vary, but generally: Monday to Friday: 7 AM to 6:30 PM Closed on weekends 📞 You can call STM-INFO (514 786-4636) to confirm the hours and exact documents required.
