Black History Month 2026 at CSJV
Highlights from Black History Month at CSJV! A look back at the theme "I too have the right to dream," our inspiring activities, and the final draw.
February is coming to a close, and with it ends a program rich in discoveries and emotions under the inspiring theme: "I too have the right to dream". Throughout the month, Collège St-Jean-Vianney has celebrated the heritage and invaluable contributions of Black communities.
A movement driven by our students
This success is above all that of our young leaders. Gladys Kimpanga and Layilah Léonard, dedicated members of the Student Council, brought remarkable energy to this 2026 edition. Their goal was clear: to inspire, motivate, and highlight the contributions of the Black community in Quebec society and within our own school.
Thanks to their vision, students participated in a series of enriching activities that fostered dialogue, reflection, and the celebration of diversity.
Essential collaborations
The success of this themed month also rests on the commitment of valuable allies. We warmly thank:
- The CCQ, Contemporary World, and History teachers, who integrated these reflections at the heart of their classes;
- Ms. Claudine Pelletier and Ms. Couture-Gosselin, for their guidance and for giving our students the opportunity to take concrete action for the advancement of their community.
A draw to close the festivities
True to our launch promise, we held a participation draw on the last school day before the March break. Congratulations to all our winners who went home with surprise prizes, rewarding their curiosity and engagement during the activities!
Carrying the dream beyond February
Although February is ending, the spirit of the theme "I too have the right to dream" continues to resonate in our hallways. At CSJV, we believe that recognizing cultural richness is an everyday effort that helps build a stronger and more united community.
Thank you all for your participation and open-mindedness. Happy Black History Month to everyone, today and for the future!
