Facilitating the transition
to secondary
Caring and structured support at Collège St-Jean-Vianney.

The transition from elementary to secondary school is a significant milestone in a young person's life and in their parents' lives. At CSJV, we do everything possible to ensure this transition goes smoothly, in an atmosphere of trust and discovery.
Our mission for the start of school: that every new student discovers their environment, gets familiar with their future, and above all, forms a lasting first friendship from their very first day.
Discovery activities
before entering the College
Through a comprehensive program of welcoming, integration, and support activities, each student learns about their new environment, develops their bearings, and builds lasting bonds with their peers and teachers.
Discovery Camps:
explore, have fun,
integrate
Starting in Grade 6, future CSJV students are invited to participate in our Discovery Camps, a unique opportunity to explore the many sports, arts, and activities offered at the College.
These camps allow young people to experience the CSJV way even before their first day of school, make new friendships, and discover the passions they can develop in secondary school.
- Camp dates (held in the fall and winter) are sent via newsletter to parents of future students.

Information meeting
for families
In April, an information meeting at the College allows parents and future students to meet the student life team and the heads of sports concentrations.
It is an opportunity to learn more about life at CSJV, extracurricular activities, programs offered, and the educational values that are the strength of our community. This meeting will help future students prepare for the concentration and academy registration period, which takes place in June on the parent portal.

A gentle start to school:
three integration
days
To get this new chapter off to a great start, CSJV dedicates the first three days of school to welcoming and integrating Secondary 1 students — with no official classes.
A first day to welcome each other and build connections
Students participate in a fun and friendly day, filled with group activities that encourage meeting new people, collaboration, and bonding among new classmates.
Two days of learning
and autonomy workshops
The following days are dedicated to a series of interactive workshops to understand how the College works and to get familiar with digital tools:
Using the Chromebook, the portal, Classroom, and Studyo
Presentation of the code of conduct and the College's values
Complete guided tour of the campus
Workshops on communication and time management
Team activities and investigation games to reinforce learning

Well supported from the very first step
We believe that academic success begins with successful integration. Our many initiatives allow each student to feel confident, supported, and proud to be part of the CSJV community from day one.
Activities to strengthen belonging throughout the year
One-day camp for Secondary 1 students
Shortly after the start of school, all students participate in a one-day camp in nature.
- This immersive activity promotes group cohesion, mutual trust, and team spirit.
Festive and traditional events
Throughout the year, several activities strengthen the sense of belonging:
- Christmas celebrations and themed activities
- Year-end Olympics, friendly competitions between homerooms
- Sports and cultural events, where students develop their leadership and solidarity
Student guides: caring mentors
For the first months, each Secondary 1 group is accompanied by Secondary 5 students.
- These senior students are trained to act as guides and mentors.
- They answer questions, support newcomers, and help create a warm and welcoming atmosphere.
Collège St-Jean-Vianney: a place of learning, a vibrant community, a springboard to the future.
